WATERFALLS AND WILD SWIMMING
We offer a range of guided trips to explore the rivers and waterfalls of Valdres. Our trips are divided into three levels of difficulty ranging from family friendly trips over gentle terrain, to more challenging trips that include gorge jumping into plunge pools. Check out our list of trips below to find the right one for you.
The Veo river gorge lies a short drive arrive from Beitostølen and is an eldorado for gorge jumping. We follow the river through narrow gorges and play with the various fun challenges we meet along the way. With 1 to 10 meter high rock cliff jumps into plunge pools, there are challenges for everyone. The trip takes around 4 hours, including return travel to Beitostølen. Please bring used sneakers, wool socks, thermal underwear, packed lunch, drink. We'll provide the rest of the equipment to ensure you have a safe and fun trip.
A short distance away from the center of Beitostølen you will find Raudalen and Gipa, where our gorge walk trips take place. Gorge walk involves walking up the canyon in the river, so you will get wet! During the trek we pass waterfalls of up to 100 m and other spectacular "photo moments" along the way. The trip requires medium fitness. If you feel like it, we can stop along the way for guests to take a short swim. Half-way through the trip we take a break and make coffee / tea over an open fire. Guests should bring some food/packed-lunch, a cup, and dry clothes/shoes to change into at the end of the trip. The trip takes 4-5 hours, depending on the water level. Recomended from 10 years old.
THE HIDDEN VALLEY OF KALVEDALEN
Join us on a great family trip to the lush, colorful and hidden valley of Kalvedalen. Situated in a beautiful and tranquil setting, a visit to the Kalvedalen valley will immerse you in the heart of nature. The tour follows the river all the way to the spectacular 100 m high waterfall. On warm days we highly recommend taking a refreshing swim in the waterfall’s plunge-pool. At the bottom of the waterfall lies a cave where the Kalvedalen priest lived in the 18th century. The trip takes about 30 minutes from the car park to the waterfall and goes over relatively easy but uneven terrain. Please wear good shoes suitable for hiking. If the weather is good, and you wish to swim, please bring swimsuits and towels.
